Like many international dating sites I’ve tested, LanaDate is free for ladies. Gents can also stick to basic membership, but a premium upgrade unlocks all the goodies. Of course, I had to try it and had 5 coin bundles to choose from:

In my research, I found a few Lanadate.com reviews complaining about the prices. Since I had the option to test both free and premium features, I had the chance to make my own conclusions.
Free services
- People (search) – basic filters include gender, age range, and continent or region.
- Topics (photo search) – my favorite tab includes various themes and works even better than the classic search.
- Favorites – the tab includes people I liked, as well as my admirers. Mutual likes helped me find compatible matches.
- Limited profile access – I got all personal tidbits and public photos, but private galleries were only unlocked after I started a conversation.
Paid services

I’m used to video features being the most expensive on dating sites, so LanaDate seems in the mid-range price-wise. I burned through $200 worth of coins within a couple of weeks, but I could also see myself stretching them to last at least a month, especially after I’ve found the right girl or two.
How to use LanaDate
So, is LanaDate legit? To find out, I had to sign up, create a dating profile, and test its main features to make up my mind. Here’s how it went.

I went with the email+password combo to see how long it would take, but I was glad to see a Google sign-up option, as well. After I set my gender and partner preference, I had to fill out a few basic fields:
- Date of birth
- Password
And that was it, my account was ready to be used after email verification. All in all, it took me under a minute. I didn’t even need to pull out my credit card details, which is always a bonus, in my books.
➡️ Create the profile
I found the “My Profile” tab at the very bottom of the left side menu, with an “Edit profile” button in the top right corner. I took the time to make my profile look its best and:
- Added the main photo and header picture. I saw a few members using collages of their pictures as headers and thought it was a great idea, so I did the same.
- Filled out the standard fields: education, occupation, interests, marital status, city, height, weight, children, and drinking and smoking habits.
- Submitted a short bio in the “About” box. I only used around 500 characters out of 2,000, but I was glad to see how many members could share.
- Uploaded a few more pictures, keeping a couple private to generate intrigue. I noticed most ladies had at least ten photos, but I settled on five.
At that point, my profile was ready, but I still had to specify my preferences. These appear in a separate window and include:
- Online dating experience
- Religion
- Relationship goals
- Language proficiency
- Character traits
- Fantasies and taboos
- Partner preferences: age, hair and eye color, skin tone, height, body shape, and traits
There were 20 questions overall, and some of them repeated profile info (occupation, education, etc.), but it still took me around 10 minutes to fill out the questionnaire.
➡️ Search the matches
During my LanaDate test, I discovered two main ways to find potential matches:
- People is your basic search, with 3 filters: gender, age range, and continent (or rather, region). There are 4 tabs: All people, Online, New, and Popular. I found it pretty handy, since search results showcase the name, age, location, and the number of gallery pictures. On the other hand, I’d have preferred more ways to narrow down my matches.
- Topics is a social-media-inspired photo search. Here, I could check boxes in Topics, Ethnicity, and Hair color and see pictures that matched my preferences. Since the focus is on a single photo, and the mechanics are similar to swiping, I found myself spending hours in this tab. It’s especially handy on mobile.
Overall, LanaDate search features are pretty impressive and work best for visual guys. But if you have a type and don’t want to waste your time working through profiles, it may not be the best dating site for you.
➡️ Communication features
I wasn’t looking for an actual match, but I still had fun flirting and chatting with gorgeous singles, using:
- Flirtcast. I’m always wary of using it because, in my experience, most people ignore stock messages. I still used my one free message and even got a reply or two, but it’s by no means my favorite.
- Live chat. I used it most, with a generous helping of photo and voice messages, but I didn’t send disappearing photos and videos much, simply because I wanted to stretch my coins as far as they would go.
- Mail. It can be pretty handy for first-time introductions, especially since the media attachments are free. I also found it helpful for talking to Asian girls, because the time difference meant we were rarely online at the same time.
I could argue that likes and winks are also communication tools, even if their usefulness can be limited. Still, I could at least see if the girls were interested before reaching out.
➡️ Customer support
I had no trouble navigating LanaDate, but I still wanted to see how good customer support was. I tried both email and live chat, and had great luck with both. The support agent answered all my questions in chat, and I got a response to my email within a few hours. For some reason, I couldn’t find an FAQ section, but, to be honest, I never read it anyway.
